I am thrilled to be teaching Geology again this year for Unit Studies! Our goal is to explore more about the Earth and the process that shape our landscapes. We will be learning through interactive activities, lab experiments and readings.
- Students can make observations and describe rocks using the properties of: color, texture, shape, pattern, and size
- Students can make observations and describe minerals using the properties of: color, luster, texture, hardness, and streak.
- Students can compare and contrast Rocks and Minerals.
- Students can test and read data to determine the hardness of a mineral (Hardness Test Lab)
- Students can test and read the data to determine if Calcite is present in a rock (Calcite Quest Lab)
- Students can describe the characteristics of Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic Rocks.
- Students can describe the processes of weathering and erosion.
- Students can explain the rock cycle using words, pictures, and diagrams.
